MOM - HSA Meeting – Jan 8, 2012

Minutes of the meeting
The meeting stated off with a warm welcome note from our President Mr K. Srinivasan and with Mr K P Subramaniam's Sourashtra Prayer song. 2012 HSA calendar was released by Mr K. R. M. Kishore Kumar I.P.S (Inspector General of Police). Later it was distributed to all HSA Members. Around 30 Families (100 Members) attended the event including 4 new families. Sports events were organized and prizes were distributed.

We are glad to let you know that Miss. Sai Darshini, D/o of Mr Krishnakumar won second prize under Senior category (class 7 to Intermediate) in Epic essay writing competition in Tamil conducted by Sri Ramanavami cultural trust held on Oct 24th at Keyes high school, Secunderbad. She received a certificate and Rs 3000 in cash.

HSA Meeting - October 2, 2010

Update on HSA Meeting held on 12 July 2009

The second get-together of Hyderabad Sourashtra Association for this year rolled on merrily on July 12. As usual members were slow to check in but by 2 pm there were about 70, just about five short of expected gathering. President K P Subramanian congratulated Mr and Mrs Bhaskar for coming forward to sponsor the lunch for attending members. It was the first time a member had sponsored the lunch and the members appreciated the trend set by Mr and Mrs Bhaskar. On behalf of the association secretary Vijayalakhsmi Madhubalan presented a beautifully painted wooden peacock to Mr and Mr Bhaskar.

President K P Subramanian told the members that the HSA had become a member of the All-India Sourashtra Sabha and told the need to recruit life members for the all-india association. The members were also told about Sourashtra being recognised as the 40th language of the country.

Soon after, Mr. Subramanian sang a kirtan by Sri Natanna gopala nayagi swamigal and asked new members to introduce themselves. The association honoured Ashwin for scoring 100% marks in Maths and 92% overall in the 10th CBSE board exam. The members wished best of luck to Arjun and Madan. Arjun is all set for University of North Carolina Charlotte to pursue MS in computer sciences and Madan is leaving this month-end for Chennai to study BE Biotech. Mrs Vijayalakshmi kept the members busy by conducting games and shows in the absence of Games secretary Janani.

IPS Kishore Kumar and his wife's surprise visit injected a new life into the gathering. He said Sourashtra had been recognised as a backward community by the Central Government and urged the members to make good use of it through their upcoming sons and daughters. Mr Kumaresh, IRS, and his family pepped up the gathering. Srikanth of CA and Gokula Kannan of HP were the other new members to attend the meeting. By the end of the evening, Mrs Sowmya and Preethi Devarajan were inducted into the association as games secretary and joint secretary, respectively.

All the members dispersed happily looking forward to October 2 for the third meeting of the year.

Hyderabad Sourastra Association Meeting, Jan 6th 2008 - Update

Once again the association meeting went thru a lean attendance. 20 of the 80 active families living in Hyderabad attended this meeting. It is sad to see a low attendance. We will not be able to make these association meetings a success with out its members. Please try and attend as many as meetings as possible.

I urge the Sourastra youth living in Hyderabad to come forward, take up some responsibilities and share the numerous ideas that they may have. Currently, the association has an opening for Joint secretary and is hoping for some energetic person to take up this responsibility. Any volunteers here?
